THORChain (RUNE) address validator
Address checking only. Paste a THORChain address to check its checksum and format and see which address type it is. Below: how RUNE addresses are built, an example, and the chains it can be confused with.
What this page does: Address checking only: SwapChan validates the format and tells you which address type it is. It does not hold funds, sign transactions or recover wallets for this chain.
RUNE address format
- bech32 with the thor prefix
- A 20-byte account hash (RIPEMD-160 of SHA-256 of the public key) in bech32 with the human-readable part thor (thor1โฆ). Other Cosmos SDK chains use the same hash with their own prefix, so one key has a different address on each chain.

Good to know
RUNE amounts use 8 decimal places: 1 RUNE = 10^8 base units.
Its SLIP-44 coin type is 931, so BIP-44 style wallets derive it under m/44'/931'/โฆ.
This page checks address formats only. It never asks for a private key or seed phrase. Want to know if an address still holds funds? Try find money (coverage is listed there). Lost the wallet app? See the recovery guides.
FAQ
- How do I check a THORChain address is valid?
- Paste it into the checker on this page. It verifies the checksum and the encoding for THORChain and says which address type it is, or why it fails.
- What does a THORChain address look like?
- bech32 with the thor prefix. Try it with the public example thor1hsk6jryyqjfhp5dhc55tc9jtckygx0ep3a5k64.
